Are you passionate about building a just, thriving, and regenerative local food system in Northwest Indiana? The NWI Food Council is currently accepting applications for Executive Board positions for the upcoming term beginning in January 2026.

Who Should Apply?

We welcome applicants from a variety of backgrounds, especially those with experience in:

  • Nonprofit finance or legal compliance

  • Fundraising and development

  • Food systems, agriculture, or food access

  • Human resources or business leadership

  • Strategic planning or public policy

Experience in these areas is valued, but not required. We also welcome other relevant skills and lived experiences that contribute to the strength and diversity of our board.

Applicants must live or work in one of the following Indiana countiesLake, Porter, LaPorte, Newton, Jasper, Pulaski, or Starke.

Executive Board Member Expectations:

  • Term Length: 3-year term beginning January 2026; renewable for one additional term (maximum of 6 consecutive years).

  • Meeting Attendance: Participate in at least 75% of scheduled board meetings annually (mix of virtual and in-person).

  • Committee Service: Serve on at least one committee or working group.

  • Time Commitment: Approximately 8–10 hours per month.

  • Compensation: Board service is voluntary and unpaid.

  • Board Structure: Up to 21 members total; Executive leadership includes President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Executive Directors.
