FarmHop 2020
During these uncertain times, support for local food has ever more important. Our 4th annual FarmHop tours will be held virtually for 2020 in order to keep everyone safe, but still allow us to celebrate and get to know the farmers in our community who feed us. While we may not be hopping on a bus with fellow farm enthusiasts this year, we are excited for the unique opportunities video tours will bring to the FarmHop experience. Stay tuned for registration details coming end of June!
FEDtalks: Backyard Chicken Keeping with Melanie Pittman
Join us on Zoom for a virtual FEDtalk, Saturday, August 22, 2020! Learn from the chicken lady, Melanie Pittman, about the essentials of backyard chicken keeping, meet the chickens, and ask your questions about keeping chickens on your homestead! This virtual workshop will also help you navigate your local zoning and ordinances. Melanie mixes the education that she has as a master urban farmer and her hands on experience to bring a fun and interactive presentation to the people.
FEDtalks: The Power of Story
When small farmers and food producers set out to build their businesses, they rarely think about how storytelling fits into the overall picture, sometimes helping—and oftentimes hindering—their potential success. Sherri Lynn Dugger of Indiana Farmers Union and Women, Food and Agriculture Network will discuss why storytelling matters. This interactive two-hour workshop helps participants delve into what makes their farm or food business unique and how to communicate those qualities to diverse audiences.
